I’m not quite sure how to answer this question because i don’t watch the news regularly and i don’t read the newspaper everyday. The only times i would watch the news would be to see a local story about something going on in my neighborhood. But from what i have seen, the news sometimes keeps certain details out. For example, back home, a cousin’s friend was shot. From the way it was reported it seemed that he was this bad kid, doing drugs, hanging out with the wrong crowd and things like that. But from what everyone who knew him said, he was a great kid, volunteering and doing a lot for people. In fact, the shots weren’t meant for him. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

when it comes to major news, there isn’t one certain channel or news station i watch. What ever show is on, is what i’ll watch. But as far as trusting them, especially after learning the things i’ve learned recently, i’m not too sure i can or should. There’s always something else that needs to be researched, and then maybe i’ll be one step closer to the truth.

Here’s another problem i have with the news. I don’t know which station it is back home but i think it was on channel 13. those from the 916 know which news station i’m talking about. A while ago i remember they were pretty serious, they were all about the news, and did what any other news show did. But for some reason, they want to make it fun and interesting. It’s kinda hard to trust that their “serious” story is true when they’re wearing some clown nose, or when they’re doing this crazy visual effect.

If there was a station i trusted it would probably be MTV news. Maybe they don’t cover as much, but the things they do cover seem to hit a few more angles rather than just one. Also, it’s a bit more appealing when the news about our generation is told by someone from out generation.

So in the end, when it comes to news, i don’t trust one particular channel, i trust what i put together from seeing a few different stories. the few times i do watch the news, i make sure not to just watch it on one station. news-pic.jpg

I think we should make our own news, and not just listen to one person’s or one station’s views on one topic.

The budget cuts have already affected me. I was applying for CSULA and thought i was just on time, but it turns out they pushed up the due date. My aunt gave me this article where it said that the reason for the pushed due date was because of the budget cuts.

I’m not exactly sure what’s going to happen, but I’m pretty sure the cuts will bump up prices at school and all the other stuff. That sucks.

obama.jpgI’ve been a fan of Hilary Clinton for a long time, but lately, she’s been losing some points. After hearing a fraction of this speech made me feel Obama a lot more. So yeah, my opinion has changed. As far as my my mom, sister, or friends, i have no clue. But for me, I definitely understand why so many people want him as our president. Everything he covered in that speech hit hard, because he related himself/his problems with everyone. I liked what he had to say, when he said, “I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together – unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction – towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.” i think everyone should listen to this speech.

This whole time I thought the Democratic candidates backed same-sex marriage because I have read about their opinions on the LGBT community and they were all pretty positive. But, now I see that while they do want to help our community, like backing us up to end “don’t ask, don’t tell” and , they still have a problem with same sex marriage.  Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama stated, “…what I’m interested in is making sure that those legal rights are available to people.”. They want to give us the same perks heterosexual couples already have, but still they fall short.

Obviously, I like where they’re going with this, especially since they are trying to help our community out, but I really don’t understand why they still can’t make same-sex marriages legal. doing what they’re doing is the equivalent of filling up a tank but letting it read empty. They’re giving us so much hope, giving us things we’ve been fighting for, but in the end, we still lose the big fight, in my opinion at least. I think it’s pretty stupid to let us take all the tiny steps, and act as though we are married, and for some reason, we still we are not granted the title.
