I’m not quite sure how to answer this question because i don’t watch the news regularly and i don’t read the newspaper everyday. The only times i would watch the news would be to see a local story about something going on in my neighborhood. But from what i have seen, the news sometimes keeps certain details out. For example, back home, a cousin’s friend was shot. From the way it was reported it seemed that he was this bad kid, doing drugs, hanging out with the wrong crowd and things like that. But from what everyone who knew him said, he was a great kid, volunteering and doing a lot for people. In fact, the shots weren’t meant for him. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
when it comes to major news, there isn’t one certain channel or news station i watch. What ever show is on, is what i’ll watch. But as far as trusting them, especially after learning the things i’ve learned recently, i’m not too sure i can or should. There’s always something else that needs to be researched, and then maybe i’ll be one step closer to the truth.
Here’s another problem i have with the news. I don’t know which station it is back home but i think it was on channel 13. those from the 916 know which news station i’m talking about. A while ago i remember they were pretty serious, they were all about the news, and did what any other news show did. But for some reason, they want to make it fun and interesting. It’s kinda hard to trust that their “serious” story is true when they’re wearing some clown nose, or when they’re doing this crazy visual effect.
If there was a station i trusted it would probably be MTV news. Maybe they don’t cover as much, but the things they do cover seem to hit a few more angles rather than just one. Also, it’s a bit more appealing when the news about our generation is told by someone from out generation.
So in the end, when it comes to news, i don’t trust one particular channel, i trust what i put together from seeing a few different stories. the few times i do watch the news, i make sure not to just watch it on one station.
I think we should make our own news, and not just listen to one person’s or one station’s views on one topic.
